Filteration for 75G flowerhorn tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just one ac110 or tidal 110 should work well for a 75 with a single flowerhorn so long as you do regular maintenance. Adding a can to the mix just seems like wasted electricity to me. But i know some folks like redundancy in their filtration which i will agree is smart.

The fx4 will be more than adequate as well.

Thank you. Sounds like a good idea. I think tidal is taking good care of gas exchange, but floor sure does needs sweeping.
You can get a circulation pump to help move that stuff to your intake. But it's now in you filter meaning more maintenance.

There are also several different types devices out there for Spot cleaning of piles of fish poo/food.

The poo may not seem so bad now. That's going to change. When that fish is an adult you get poop that the diameter of a pencil two to three inches long. Those don't get sucked up by filter's unless the fish happens to break it up. That's why I do water changes every 3 days and so much maintenance. Big fish make big waste.

Thanks, yes that would look ugly. I can siphon it out between water changes.

Good choice! One mod I would recommend for a 75 and fx4 is a spray bar. I like the 3 piece ones so I can tune 2 sections on the ends to discharge at top of water line for more dissolved oxygen and center section to sweep the bottom toward intakes.

Can you help me find one? A link would be great.

Search canister filter spraybar on one of your usual stores and you will find one. They are easy to d.i.y just make sure your purchase or build matches your line size. Not much help haha.
I can show you my d.i.y poop scoop though. Can reach the bottom of all my tanks.

It's very useful, would have been better solution for me than buying eheim vaccum I bought for $50.
