In a couple of days i will be getting 3 more tanks, they are all 36x18x21 inches and hold about 220 litres each, the question is what is the best way to filter these tanks on a budget as im only 14 and my 6 other tanks drain my cash flow quite alot (especially my 175 gal),. also any sugestions for a 48x18x18 tank would be greatly appreciated. btw i have som spare filters i could use they include 1 eheim 2213, 1 eheim 2211 1 interpet pf3, 1 interpet pfmini a couple of powerheads and about 5 air pumps. :)

You can power these with a powerhead and some hosing. Use quilt batting from the craft store for mech On the very top, water hits it first) and any sort of corrugated hard plastic pieces for bio (the rest of the bucket full of stuff like this. Sponges work, too). Make sure to leave an emergency overflow hose in case/when your mech finally clogs. And the return can be a very long hose to remove scary streams of water and evaporation.

Alternatively, there are some good plans around here for DIY sponge filters, but the bigger the better I say!

Definitely go the do it yourself route to get started on the cheap. Either sponges or a mechanical/bio filter like pictured above.

If you do go sponges only then realize that you will rely on water changes and vacuuming to clean up all the scum.

does anyone have any plans for an overhead filter of some kind, i have one built into 3 of my tanks and i know just how effective they are
