Filteration on 125

+1 except I'd ditch the 55/75. Don't get me wrong, I own 3 of them and they are awesome HOBs for the price, but AC just can't be beat...keep the two AC's on there, and scoop up a cheap canister, any of the ones mentioned are great, I'm personally using an FX6 but thats because PETCO ran a stupid great deal on them and I got one for like 150 bucks off the regular price. Throw in some Purigen in one of the trays and I bet your water clears in a weeks time easy.

Thanks guys. I just did a 50% water change last night, and cleaned out all my filter intakes and impellers. Tanks crystal clear now. lets just see if it stays this way. 150$ off the fx6? You made out great!! I still am not happy with the 55/75 though. Still wanna throw somthing stronger on there. No such thing as over filteration when it comes to a tank of Oscars and a Dempsey lol

ya, turns out, when they run a sale, they also take an extra 10% off the product if you order online but pick it up yourself. It was a win win. future tip haha

I agree they aren't the stongest hobs in the world haha. For the price though...you take out the goofy mech filter brackets they come with and stuff em full of either sponges or biomax and they have decent space in there. I use one with the fx6 on my 150, and one on a growout 55.

Biggest problem with Eheims IMO: price of replacement parts. An impeller was costing me upwards of $40 (until I found one online for $12)

Yeah... I got a little Eheim Ecco in a trade years ago. Awesome little filter, but I ran it dry trying to prime it after a cleaning recently, and the impeller magnet cracked. $40 was the best price anywhere. Killed me to see impellers for an Eheim classic canister going for $15.
