MFK has a thread which makes notice of filtering systems that lasts a very long time and points out positive notes of the brands, models, etc... which are truly dependable.

But on this thread I want to pin out people who bought and used filtering systems which failed us on short term use for people to beware when planning to get a new filtering setup for their loving monsters and hobby.

I have two Mirineland Magnum 350 canister filter which bought 150$ each. Worked very well for about half a year then now slowly cycles my tanks water and a word to describe the performance on it now is "Weak"

Anyone else encountered filtering systems that have failed??

Info will be appreciated..

I cant stop breaking eheim double tap valves.... I swear to god the ones that come with the classics are wayyyy too easy to break.

I have a magnum that is at least five years old. When that happens you just need to clean it.

my eheim wet/dry which I bought like 10 years ago was a pita...didn't work then and never improved...

generally, I love eheim.

of course I tried cleaning it. maybe its a bad batch or something. Im sure one person has one brand/model which fails and someone else got one working strong for long ass time..

Actually, I bought 2 magnums also and find them to be very weak also.

My first canister filter was the Magnum 350 in 2004. I thought it was great for the first year but it was not silent and became a pain to disassemble for cleaning. I also broke the quick disconnect ear off one rather easily. I still have this filter but it is just taking up room in the corner of the basement.

as weak as magnum 350s are, they do serve a purpose.....i run mine full of floss and try to let it do nuthing but mechanical filtration. just need to remember to clean it every 2-3 weeks.
