I have two filters on my 29 gallon both are supposedly for a 30g but should i just buy a bigger filter or will haveing two filters hurt anything?:nilly:

I'm no expert but I have a Fluval 405 (rated for 100g) that I use for my 75g. It works great! I have also ran a H.O.T Mag 250, but quit after having to change micron filter every 2-3 weeks.

i like running two filters regardless of tank size so when you clean the media you don't have to worry about losing all your bio filtration. always make sure you clean your media in tank water and not chlorinated water to minimize this.

assuming the flow rate is equivalent there is no disadvantage to running 2 filters over a single larger filter.
