Many people will use RO water along with tap to do water changes on soft water fish. This way you get the benefits of the minerals and alkalinty from the tap water but dilute them to levels appropriate for softwater fish.

This is exactly the reason I come here because i like to be able to bounce things off of other people who are much more experianced than I am. Thanks for all the input i think here in the next few days (perhaps monday) I will try to test my tap water to see how jacked up it is. I never really thought to test it.
