Anyone recommend a place to get filtration for an autodrip now that filter guys are out of business?

Thanks!

I haven't bought a replacement filter since they went out of business, yet. But, I have been looking around for replacement cartridges, and they're everywhere. Here's one....

https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-universal-carbon-block-filter-1-micron.html

What I was planning to do was to buy 2 of these, and also a sediment filter (don't forget to put a sediment filter in stage 1, so sediment won't clog up the chlorine filters in stage 2 &3), and test the output water--I have a chlorine/chloramine test kit. Turns pink when chlorine is present in water.

ragin_cajun ragin_cajun what type of filter do you have installed. Checking out sites BRS and marinedepot all I see are references to RO or RO/DI units and I thought unless you want to add back stuff you need to stay away from those.

I have the 3 stage chloramine / chlorine only filter. Stage 1 is a sediment filter, stage 2 and 3 are carbon block chlorine filter cartridges. I don't do RO/DI filtering--that's for saltwater tanks.

The filter cartridge I linked to above is not a RO/DI filter, it's a chlorine filter. So, I'd buy 2 of those, and 1 sediment filter for stage 1, as replacement cartridges for the 3 stage housing I already have from Filter Guys. I just need replacement cartridges.

"BRS Universal Carbon Blocks have been specially formulated for industry leading chloramine and chlorine reduction"

If you don't have the filter housing, then just get a 3 stage filter housing and put the right filter cartridges in it to achieve what you want -- for most of us keeping CA/SA cichlids, we just want chlorine and chloramine removal.

How much water are you dripping and % water change? Is it good to avoid changing too much?

monkeybike monkeybike saw the post and thanks for the direct link. Problem is that those are the cartridges but I need to find a housing unit. Seems like most stuff on aquarium sites are 4+ stage RO or RO/DI which I don't want. Trying to find a simpler 3 stage housing unit.

Use a 4 stage housing, and put 3 chlorine cartridges in it?

I drip 60 GPD, and I don't change water unless nitrates go up, and I haven't seen nitrates go up yet, so I haven't changed water in a couple years. I have however, drained down half or more of the tank water to net out fish for various reasons.

I don't worry about changing too much water when I do change water, though. Fish are tough when they're healthy. :)

Likewise, I do ~60gpd in my overstocked 180, nitrates are fine. You can probably find a house filter with 3 canisters, but I would go for a 4 can unit for longer change durations. I do my 3 can unit about every 8 months with a poly filter change every 4. I have a mixing valve running tank temp water through mine so I get some sediment from the hot water heater, hence the frequent poly cart changes. They are cheap anyways.

If I get a 4 stage is it really as simple as just changing the cartridges? Also trying to look into life and cost of cartridges. One system I found looked good but the cartridges said a life of 600g which won't even last a month.
