so i have kept tanks for a while now and am thinking about setting a rack up with a 40 breeder on the bottom and ten gallons in the middle and top. i am very experienced with fishkeeping and want to filter multiple tanks with one filter. I am not worried about spreading disease because i only buy from trusted breeders and i quarantine my fish. does anyone know how i can have an airline or possibly bridge the tanks?
thank you

You would be better off filtering the individual tanks with sponge filters or using HMF (Hamburg Matten Filters) and a proper size air pump.

A canister filter won't be able to remove debris from different tanks without some serious DIY skills.

A sump will also require some DIY skills and probably the need to drill the tanks for drain and fill and probably an overflow.

Like deeda said, the filtration of choice for such setups are either sponge filters or hmf which is a more effective sponge filter.
