Would this work? I want to cut down on how many filters I use and bring in a EHEIM 2080 PROFESSIONAL 3 to filter two 80 gallons at once. would that be possible?
theoritaclly it would be possible. but you would need to find a T section to split both the intake and output pipes. so they can go to the seperate tanks. im not sure if anyone has done this previously.
It's possible if you can connect the 2 tanks with an array of offset U-tubes. That's the only real way to keep the water levels adjusted with a canister filter.
It's much simpler with W/D filters since whatever water goes into the tank falls over a gravity drain.
It would be very hard to get a good flow rate for both tanks as well as proper siphoning for the intake lines , not to mention the extra cost to split the lines.
Just remember that once you lenghten the hoses to accomidate two tanks, you might be making them too long which will reduce the filter's ability.
It is possible to do this, but i dont believe its a good idea. What if you get some type of disease outbreak in one of the tanks, guess what...the other tank now has it too. Id use separate filters, just to be prepared for these types of scenarios. Good luck in whichever route you take.
hmm seems like a good idea but as v3n0m mentioned there could be a problem with diseases getting into both tanks, i personally would go for 1 each tank as there will also be a cleaning problem, you will need to do a clean maybe every week/two weeks just to stop it from clogging if there big tanks with very messy fish
well thanks everyone for the advise for now I will keep separate filters for each tank but if i find a solid way to make my idea happen you guys will be first to know!
