would 2 Fluval FX4s be good enough for 125 American cichlid tank? Or would 2 FX6s be better?? Any advice would be appreciated.

2 FX6's would definitely be better. You know what would be better than the 2 FX6's. Eheims's 2262, trust me.

Also, what heaters do you recommend for a 125
I like the hydor theo heaters. Have a bunch of them, none have crapped out on me. The ehaim filters are great. Currently running a 15 year old classic 2217 and it still works like new. I think a single 2262 would be fine for your tank with another powerhead or something for flow, though there is no such thing as too much filtration, so two eheims would be great.

I am impressed with Fluval e heater and Aqueon glass. Two Fx6 is plenty of filtration.

The fluval e heater has been a personal favorite of mine! Super accurate, only downfall is it needs a good amount of flow.

Two eheims or the 2 fx6 with sponge filters over the intake and plenty of bio media and some chemi-pure and you would be sitting pretty .

thanks, would I need one or 2 Eheims? If I got the 2262

Ever cleaned a fx6? Complete pain. When from fx5 on my tank back to 3 ac110s on my 180. Eheim is better biological and design seems easier to clean but no experience with it.

The need for 1 or 2 filters is based on your bioload. If you’re overstocked you’ll need 2, if you have minimal stock you can probably get away with one and then some powerheads for extra movement.
