i have a 20 gallon aquarium with lots of live plants and the plants continue to gunk up the filters and so i was wondering if there were anyfilters desighed out there for planted aquariums....its not that my plants arnt trimmed its that just that green algea that loves to grow in the filter and no where else :irked:

to my knowledge eveyone uses sumps, or canisters
but for that small i have no clue
good luck
you might want to look into a uv sterilizer for the algea

is his a planted tank with no fish?
if it is i would just use a small water pump

if not all filters will suck up plant crap except really sumps since they draw water from a couple levels so its not as powerful suction

get a power head and a sponge filter made to take the tube of of an ugf . thats what i have on my planted tank

I can just think of a HOB with mesh or a strainer on the intake to prevent the leaves from getting sucked up. That or move the filter to the corner of the tank and move any surrounding plants.
