Can someone help me, just bought a new 55 gal tank. It came with a dual filter. Now I still have another filter that's good for up to a 60 gal tank. Can I put the dual & the extra filter all on the tank to run together or is that too much filtering? All I have in my tank are African cichlids. Any help, thanks!

You con sometimes have too much flow, but in my opinion never too much filtration. I doubt that those filters will provide too much flow. The commercial ratings given as to the efficiency ability of most filters are grossly exaggerated, and based on a community tank with some guppies and barbs, not on cichlids.

What kind of filters are they?

If they hang over the back brim (sounds like they do) I would definitely use both.
