What type of filtration do you guys all use?? And which do you think is best for rays? Ive heard everything from bio wheels to Fluvals and sumps.. Is there any type of filtration that can ease the pain of water changes? Ive also heard something of a drip system?? Also, do you guys all let your water sit? Or use the prime?I have no way to let 500+ gallons sit and age..Never was a problem with my one ray tank, but Ive now got total of 8 ray tanks set up and its getting old.. Any ideas?

With that many tanks you should look into your own RO/DI system to produce tank water.

Filtrations really up to you and you'll get a lot of opinions on it but none of them really help with water changes.

A drip system is a constant water changer that consists of float valves to top off the tanks and an equil sized line constantly draining a portion of the water. Properly set up...this kind of system can almost eliminate water changes.

Not really but then your a member of the largest on line information pool on earth... pick up a 150gpd RO/DI unit and call for help...

Thanks, Will do.. actually just found an old thread from neoprodigy for a DIY 24/7 drip... looks sick but complicated, like a commercial hydro setup lol...

RO/DI WATER ISNT NECCEASARILLY GOOD FOR RAYS......

I'VE BEEN TOLD THIS AND I HAVE ALSO TRYED IT......

RO WATER ISN'T THAT STABLE AS FAR AS PH AND RAYS NEED STABLE WATER..... SO IT ISNT REALLY A GOOD IDEA....IMO

Very true. If your going to use R/O water. Only use a 50%mix. Use 50% aged water with 50% R/O. And I wouldn't use DI. Stingrays use a lot of the minerals in the water. Best filter would be a large sump along with a good can filter.

Agreed you do not need RO water what is the parameters of your water coming from the tank Ph etc. You could probably just get away with some big carbon filters and set it up so your doing a 10-25% water chage in a 24 hr period. All you need is a lines plumbed into your tank or sump and a drain line setup at the proper height of your tank or sump and as the new water comes in it will drain out the drain line. I have one for my store and i never do water changes anymore just clean tanks. Ow yeah talk to your water district and ask if they use chlorine or chloramine or both. If the use chloramine you will need to use a product like prime or the one i use by aquatrol to remove it.

WHAT WILL THE CARBON DO....?? AND WHAT IS THIS OTHER PRODUCT CALLED?? DO YOU USE A DOSER??
