Filtration/flow ideas for 370g setup?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Could you get a pic of the tank as it is currently? Ensure to clearly display the hole
How wide is the tank? I would think that it would be at least 2ft wide?

How big is the diameter of the hole?

Also, correct me if I am wrong - but I get the impression you want to use a canister rather then a sump?

I can see what your LFS guy is getting at but I can't see it working too well if all the drainage PVC overlows are then directed to the one corner overflow and down the one drain - it is safe to assume the one standpipe would not be sufficient to cope with the load

With a picture we can suggest some ideas/options

It seems as though it is quite a large tank and IMO you would need more drainage holes or PVC overflows if drilling is not an option.

We'd like to post some pics (if we can figure out how without linking it, but uploading it directly, if that's possible)

Measurements:

10' LONG
3' HIGH
20" DEEP

The pre-drilled hole is about 3 1/2"

Uploadin is possible but that function is having issues right now. You can put pics on a hosting site and post a link. With a 3.5" hole you are looking at a 2" bulkhead/pipe, thats not going to flow enough water for a tank that size. You would need to add at least 1 more hole but 2 or 3 would be better. As far as a Fx5 filter, thats a good start but with any kind of fish load you will need a 2nd one. I would go with verflow boxes on theback of the tank going to your filters. As long as the flow through the boxes is high enough, you can supply a canister or a sump. Here is a link to some boxes and good luck.http://www.lifereef.com/siphon.html
