Filtration for 300 gal?

What would be a good amount of filtration for a 300 gal? I dont want to do a sump, because really I dont know how to do it and I dont want any accidents of it overflowing etc. I just need to know what would be good enough, I dont wanna go overboard like some people do, but something that is good and a little better than normal, but not overboard.

So Eheim is better than Fluval? Would one of these Eheims be good or you need 2 for a 300 gal?

Well the Eheims cost more than the Fx5's and the Fx5's filter more. Fx5's do around 900gph and the Eheim only 400gph.
