I am in the design phase of building a 96" long x 48" wide x 24" deep tank. I have never had a tank this large, so if anyone could help me out on how to filtrate this large of a tank it would be appreciated. I want to house an arrowanna and maybe some rays in it.

ok, just kidding

I'm sure some kind of sump system will work best and there are plenty of guys and gals here that should be along shortly to help you out. Congrats on the new tank it sounds awesome. Can't wait to see some pics of it *hint, hint* :D

Aqua Clear 110's Do you think lfs will give discount for buying in quantity? This is what I am figuring to do:
3 24"x18"x20" wet/dry filters
3 Rio 1400 submersible pumps
40 watt quartz sleeved UV filter
To run the tank maybe an Iwaki 70 RLT external bearing pump
and 2 300 watt submersible heaters

Maybe someone can help from here.....I've been researching this and I still am not real sure. :headbang2

sorry to burst your bubble, but i think you're overestimating the volume of your tank there, im also in the design stages of mine, for the same size... lol.

should be more like 440 gallons, or 480 filled to the brim.
(96 * 48 * 24) / 231 = 480 gallons

to include the thickness of the materials (1/2" acrylic) and having water 1" from the top:
(95 * 47 * 22.5") / 231 = 440 gallons

check out my post on it...

on a tank that large, simplicity would be key. It'd be much easier to plumb 2 wet dry filters as opposed to 3, though with 3 you do have the advantage of extra space in case of a power outage and the water above the overflow level drains into your sump. But 2 would be just fine. And you'd be limited to space in your stand for 3 I'd think. Make sure they're tall enough to accomodate enough bioballs/filter media for the tank. Good luck with the build.
