Filtration for a 100 gallon tank?

Go with a rena xp4 way better then fluval 2 year manufacture warranty pumps 475 gph or aomething like that, with one of these u wouldnt really need an AC 110 i run xp4 on a 90 gallon but i also run an ac70 and penguin just to push the water to my can intake

Eheims all day man. Best canisters IMO use little electricity and they run pretty quiet unless u go 2250 and bigger.
Run two 2217 and kick the AC110 or run one 2217 (or better) with a AC110

Or go crazy with a 2250 (317gph) or 2260 (600ish gph)

You'll be suprised what you can find secondhand on craigslist if you don't wanna pay full retail. Also amazon has some better prices on them than stores. Shop around and try to get them with media already.

I clean mine maaaaybe every 6 months alternating to keep bacteria alive and hoses every 3 months.

We are thinking about when your fish puts some size on them. That is why most of us say a fx5 would be prime. As of turn over rate, most of us like 10x a hour.

With your current stock you will not have to add bio media to the other two trays of the fx5. You can just add the "blue" pads for polishing your water.
