I have fluval canisters all over the place...LOL The ONLY differance between the 404 and 405 series is an improved holder for the inlet and outlet tubes...that and the case color....All the other parts interchange and all other specs are exactly the same...go with the best deal...
The Magnum 350....well....yes I'll agree that it does a great job but it's a maintaince headache and always has been. I ran 4 of them for over 10 years.
If you want quiet...go with the Ehiem but once again it's a small differance and more difficult to maintain than the 404/405. Keep checking Ebay...just saw the 05 series dropping below 100.00...
