Filtration for a 180 Gallon Tank???

Is a sump really needed for a 180 gallon tank (CA/SA cichlid community) or would a couple canisters be fine ? What does everyone recommend for filtration on a 180 gallon? Would what ever filtration you recommend supply enough water surface movement?

FX5 and a Magnum 350........good strong combo.....i'm not really into sumps.......guess i think they will flood my house if the power goes out!!

I run a pair of rena xp3s and a pair of AC110s on my 180g

i have a small sump prob around 30 gallons and 2 x ac110 for my 180 g

I run twin Rena XP3's and an AC110 on a 165g (72 x 19 x 29.5 tall)

so far so good.

Wow AC110 seem to be popular amongst everyone who has replied so far...It seems like this is the popular HOB filter choice. Any reason why this is so?

not to expensive.

pretty much the perfect HOB filter IMO
