filtration for a 220g

I fully agree with LD50's point about sumps full of nothing but scrubbies & polyfill. I think its a waste too. A $5 clamp light & $4 CFL from Lowe's gets you a planted fuge or algae scrubber & plastic bins/baskets/drawers are cheap & easy media chambers in any sump. Besides, very few tanks need THAT much bio...

well i do have the 55 an i have some plants that will be in the 220. but i could still have the 55 as a planted tank to help disipate the nitrates. an im getting the 220 for 150. so im trying to do everything as cheap as possible. im kinda broke but my pops loaned me the money to get the 220. an i figured i could gather a few things here an there an once i get everything i need i will move my 125 into my bedroom an set the 220 up in my living room after i check the joist an all an make sure i have enough support. what i got now should be suffice. i have two cinder block peirs under my floor an a 4x4 to support the fllor joist. have to make sure its all good cause i live in a trailer an dont want to ruin my home. if i can find some one willing to trade me for a 55 or something then i will go to a bigger sump. but i dont think i need any thing bigger i can use a 3 or 4 drawer stack cabinet by rubber maid or whatever an get all th filtration i need an still have room to plant some plants to help with the nitrate.

also what do yall think about this i was wondering if i could turn this tank on its side an in order to get a 72 x30 x24 footprint instead of a 72x24x30. i thought maybe i could take the existing front or back off an close the existing top in with that piece of glass.

It might be possible, but I'm not sure. It would be pretty labor intensive. You might be better off asking that over in the DIY section.

You have two very large pieces of glass there. 72X30 is big. If your going to take it apart anyway you may want to use one or both for the front panel of a very large plywood build?

+1. It would be much better for a plywood build, than trying to reassemble it in a different configuration. But hey, if you're up for the attempt, the worse that can happen is it fails, right? Then you just take it apart and use the glass for a plywood build...
