i am having a friend build me a tank/tub that is 6ft long and 3x3 w/h
now i neeed to worry about filtration. its goin to have a rtc, tsn, 2 spotted gar, and a jardini so it needs some good filtration.
also im goin to cut out a side and put in a piece of plexi or glass so i can see inside it. would i need to bolt it in or just silicon it and the pressure will hold...?
let me know what you guys think!:popcorn::popcorn:

forgot to mention its goin to be out of fiberglass....

anyone......?

Silicone will hold the glass. You will probably want a good size sump for a filter and id definitely recomend using filter socks for your mech filtration

hopefully. what thickness do i need?
n i dont really want to do a full sump. im thinkin maybe a tray under the tank with plants like a bog filter. see how that goes and if i need to maybe add my fx5 to it just for mech filtration

I would go with a good size sump and the plants. Sump, bio-tower, filter pad or socks and plants. Then you will have yourself a pretty good setup.

Fu@< canister filters.

Canisters will be a pita on a big tank. To get the flow i wanted i would need 10fx5 for my 500g and got the same with just a 100gsump and I muse I have more room for bio than any caqnister

i wanna do somethin diff. i know how to set up a typical filter. but i want somethin thats diff. like a full bog filter that is 6 in deep and 4ft long by 2ft wide. full of duck weed and hyacynth and pothos and a bunch of other plants. i think all the roots will be a good mech filter and the plants will pull out all the nutrients. but i might HAVE to get more fish to feed the plants lol :)

yea canisters are not good for bio. but great fro mech.

Canisters are good for mech and not that great for bio IMO. Ud be surprised how much waste those fish will make when they get big, you definitely wouldn't need to add fish to feed the plants
