filtration for a 400 gallon tank?

lol. oh trust me i know. they are all about 12-18 in right now in a 125..... its bad.

A well designed sump will give you all the mechanical and bio filtration you'll even need. Much better than any canister filter. I always laugh when I see people say canisters are better for mechanical :)

for the size they do. i think. they are both great but i think the fact that the canister can push water through a filter pad is alot more efficient.

A filter pad in a canister is nowhere near as good as a filter sock in a sump. Not to mention filter socks are available in 1 micron ratings :)

A sump would be your best bet, especially with your stock list. It would be easy to put together and very efficient. Ive had hang on the back filters, canisters, and sumps and sumps are far superior with large waste loads from big fish. They're fairly easy to clean and maintain as well.

lol. guys im doin a sump. thats basically decided.
does anyone have any cool diff ideas?
not just a sump.....

well maybe i wont be worrying about this. i just found a 300 gallon glass oceanic tank for 1000 with 2 fx5s and lights

my 360 (when i get it lol) will be filtered by a sump and 2 x Fx5.... i was thinking of using the last compartment in my sump to house plenty of plants to help with nitrates etc. duckweed in all but the first section - great for dealing with nitrates.
