Filtration for holiday (2 weeks leaving fish)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you filters are large enough and well cycled they should always keep ammonia and nitrites at 0. Its only the Nitrates that go up. There are also auto feeders, I am not too sure on the cost cause I never have a real need (yet) for something like that. But I suppose it is filled with flakes and/or pellets and a timer drops them as you program it to. I would use it for a while before letting it go on its own. I read one guys disaster story here how the feeder dumped everything the first day.

im going to do a run for 2 weeks with no food... sounds a bit drastic but i think theyll make it... been seriously overfeeding for the last 2 weeks....

They did one week before fine... but 2 weeks is another story i guess

I really hope it works out... ill post up comments if it dosent believe me!!!

Remove all the food from under your tank just in case the neighbour is tempted to feed extra. Where do you get the live shrimp from?

I got the shrimps from my nearest fish shop... really cheap... was like £3 for 50 of the little things.

Pity they have to get eaten though as they quite sweet :)
