so far I have a used fluval canister 406 and a ac110 hob.
I bought the 2 foam blocks for the ac110 and a bunch of matrix for the fluval.

I found a local guy with a eheim 2222 with media and extra pads and everything, slightly used but in the box for $65.

Do you think this would be a wise addition?
I'm considering flipping the fluval because I prefer canisters to be straight bio

If you don't have ammonia or nitrite you don't need more filtration.

He said he would let it go for $50 with extra pads and media, but I'm thinking it's probably too small to be much use in my 110 gal and I could find something better to spend my money on right?

But then again for bio media filtration I really don't need high flow rates

I have a 55G and I have 3 canisters, 1 is a 100G rated, 1 55, and 1 30, it never hurts to have extra filtration so long as your fish are being slammed against the glass!

yeah, but buying a $50 eheim rated for 30 gals isn't wise when I can buy a fx5 for $100, or something else that holds more than 2 liters of bio. This eheim 2222 can only push water 4 feet up according to specs I hear

I have a 110 with a old fluval 403, ac 70 and an emperor 400, and I might add a wet/dry I always go with overkill filtration, it never hurts

Guys I'm TOTALLY on board with over filtration, I'm arguing that if I'm only going to have 2 canisters, I should get BIGGER canisters and skip the TINY eheim 2222 ;-)
