what would you do for filtration for this tank? its 60" by 30" by 30"

1. 2* FX5's
2. Build Sump + FX5
3. 2 Rena XP3s and a FX5

In general, sumps give many more options for filtration.

I'd go with the fx5s or an fx5 and an Eheim 2262.

the eheim 2262 is 500 bucks lol

i'm gonna get a used FX5 for $120 then buy a new FX5 for $230 + 50 worth of media... :\

Sump and FX5. You could probably buy a 55 gallon tank pretty cheap on CL and convert it into a sump. IS the tank drilled?

nope, the tank is not drilled. a 55 wouldn't fit underneath the tank though... the biggest tank i think i could fit there is probably a 30 gallon. lol

a 30 gallon would be too small since you will be running a risk to overflow water onto the floor when the power goes out :S. Unless you put the PVC overflows 1/2" from the waterline or so

I love sumps but have recently been using both for mech filtering. A sump plus FX5 would give you a nice flexibility. However sumps can clean the water as good or better then canisters with Micron filter socks.

the other thing is, i've never had a sump before and have no idea how they work. so it's gonna be challenging to build it lol the stand is about 30" tall, so i think if i find a tall tank, i could fit a 50 gallon inside. possibly. i'd have to measure it when i get home.
