Filtration Help Please.........

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
On my 75, I have a Fluval that has 4 baskets packed extremely full of fine filter floss that also outputs through a UV sterilizer. The tank is always crystal clear of given a little time to settle after tank/filter maintenance. It's got clowns, sens, and several other fish in it that are messy eaters too

What color tint?
if it's a brown tint - use a carbon filter
if it's green tint - get it out of the sun or use a UV filter or more live plants
if it's white cloudy with no tint - stop changing all your filter media and vacuuming the gravel on the same day. The bacteria is trying to recover.

get the micron filter pads. there like 4 bucks for a big sheet at any petsmart and i think they do a great job of removing those very small particles that some of the regular filter media misses.

put it at the bottom of your ac 50

yea its more of a white tint of cloudy, the amonia is niltch the ph is 7.0-7.2 and i think its because i do water changes 1 a week, maybe a little 2 often, plus in my emperor filter i never filled the carbon case with any carbon or sponge or anything, just the regular filter pad and the empty carbon case so its like my aquaclear 50 is doing all the work.. I forgot to read the emperor manual O=] .... but i appriiate al help .. thanks

pack that gray basket in the emperor full of fine filter floss. And put it behind the normal filter pad and things will clear up. And do not change the filter pad just wash it out and reuse. Also you might only vac the gravel every other WC.
