i have a 150gal tank and i have a ten gallon tank sectioned off with glass to create a wet dry filter DIY. i also have a 750gph rated pump. and i am also in the works of making my own overflow. the ten gallon is all i have right now but do you think it is too small?

Keep in mind when you turn the sump's pump off you need room in the sump for all the water from the plumbing as well as an inch or so of water from the tank (from above the top of the overflow) to fit in your sump... as well as enough water to allow the sump to function...

My guess is a 10 gal isn't even large enough for the mechanics of a sump to work on your 150 gal, much less big enough to make it efficiently filter anything...

I've always heard that the recommended size for a sump is 1/3 the volume of the aquarium... I'm not sure if that is water volume or max amount it can hold (remmebering that you need to leave the sump at least several inches low for the additional water when you turn the pump off).

i was figuring that the main problem would be when power is off it wouldnt be able to hold the water. im going to have to find a cheap tank to pick up
