filtration on a 100 long?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm not familiar with petco brand but have a cheap hob and an ac 30 and have ran them side by side as a temp setup and the ac is the same size as the other but water flow from the ac is way stronger so I would say one ac 50 would prob be better than two cheapos then go get a cheap powerhead

What are you using for biological filtration (bioballs, scrubbies, ceramic rings, etc...)?

my entire sump is for bio. i filled it with sponge, 720 cut up straws (they have good surface area), and scouring pads! the two HOB's that i got are for mechanical and chemical only:D

I only use a sump on my 100g long. It has about the same amount of turn over. i don't have any problems with nitrates. i was using a ac50 but it wasn't wide enough and keep leaking water behind the tank, so i had to move it. i am probably going to get a powerhead and a sponge filter to add to my tank.

you should do 2 used powerheads and add a sponge attachments/sponge filters to each powerhead. I use a 402 with a micron attachment and that thing works great, with that and a xp3 my 90g is always clear. Go to a fish auction, i bought the 402 for $2, it just needed the $4 bracket.

Why would you overstock a tank you can't afford to take care of properly?

i am have no other choice!! my bluegills are getting quit bigg, as are the turtles and i dont have another tank.

and i am taking care of it properly!! who asked you anyways?? my filtration is perfectly fine now i just got to more HOB's for 60 bucks and now its filtered super well. dont go around telling people that they are not taking care of their pets correctly, because half the time you'll be wrong and people are going to think of you badly if your going around criticizing peoples work when they are not doing anything wrong. It's very hard for me to carry out my hobby because im 12. and your right it is very hard for me to pay for my 8 tanks, but i work, and work to get extra cash! i only make 230 dollars a year, to pay for filter media, fish food, lighting, feeders, water conditionar, and alot more!!

just PLEASE dont go around critcizing people and making yourself look like a jerk. even if you didnt mean to say it in a mean way, it sounds like your trying to make me feel bad and/or trying to make yourself look cool.

You tell him. You're only 12 once. Enjoy it while it lasts!

all repsects, but im 30... i have only 2 tanks and they are stocked well and equipped even better... Perhaps your $230 a year would be better spent on one tank with the right gear
