I am getting a 300 wide on Thursday and I'm trying to figure out filtration. I have an FX5 coming Wednesday that I am going to use, but I am going to need more obviously. I eventually want to build a sump, but I'm trying to use what I have for now and save a little money. It has an overflow box, so I was thinking of plumbing the 75 into the box (like a sump) and putting my Penguin 350 filters on the 75 to clean up the 300 (plus they won't fit anywhere on it).
So, here's what I was thinking...
FX5 standalone
overflow into 75 gallon tank w/ 2 x Penguin 350's
XP3 inlet in 75 gallon and outlet in 300.
it is only going to have five 4-7.5" peacock bass in it along w/ a 6" striped raphael cat and 6" marbled goby until I get the filtration going better.
Do you think that has a possiblity of working AND being effective at least for a few months? Or is there something else you can come up with? I don't wanna mess w/ the FX5 as that is permanent for the tank.
Thanks
