I'm going to have a pond of somesort in the near future for my RTC. I'm planning on a large rubbermaid tub or possibly outfitting a kiddie pool with pond liner. Anyway, what are my options for filtration? Is it possible to get away with no filtration and daily water changes? I'm trying to keep costs low.

You can buy an inline pump that will cycle 750g/hr for $40-50, with a bit of 1" pvc piping and a couple 5g buckets you can make the equivalant of a couple of large box filters cheap, by routing the return flow thru a piece of capped and drilled pvc you can make a spray return for extra areation. I'm a cheap bastard so I know this works, I have made and used them.

Just a silly question from half way across the globe to you guys in the States, how much do you guys usually spend on your water bills? Is tab water there free?

It depends on the usage and no the water is not free, our water rates just went up twenty dollars. My water bill is usually under forty dollars per month.

U i had a idea. U take a rubber maid trash can or barrel. And u make a filter outta it. IT but like 2-3 of those might do it.
