My freind bought this filter to use on his saltwater tank:

http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/216513/product.web

Its the Rena Filstar xP4 and it says it can do saltwater as well as freshwater aquariums. Since brackish is a little of both, I figured it would work perfectly. He said he didnt want it, so he gave it to me. He paid $270ish for it and just gave it to me. Happy day :headbang2. Thanks.

Not only do canister filters provide superior filtration, they can easily be upgraded. Additional auxiliary equipment such as BIO-Wheels, UV clarifiers, or even water chillers can be plumbed in-line to create a comprehensive aquarium filtration system, for a saltwater fish only tank .Canister or no good for coral tanks.

The filter came with:
Foam 20 ppi filter
Foam 3o ppi filter
Filtratio Pad
Progressive Micro-filtration pad
'Bio-chem' Stars
Ceramic rings
Bio-Chem Zorb
Activated Carbon
Phos-Zorb
And all partsto the filter itself. It has 4 or 5 different chambers to put the materials in. I was so happy when he gave it to me. So, this will do the job of a 55gal brackish tank fairly well?
