Your wet/dry will be fine if you do not opt to go the co2 route. You can have quite a nice planted tank without co2 so don't feel like you have to have it. I have had a planted tank in the past with a wet/dry filter and had great success only dosing liquid ferts (seachem.)

Root tabs for the swords and lightly dosing excel and trace

ok so u did use Co2 supplementation in ur wet-dry set up. when u were speaking to the OP u must have been referring to pressurized Co2?

it would sound strange if u weren't because, u even admitted to using some sort of Co2 in ur wet-dry planted tank.

anyways, doesn't really matter at this point, since the OP wants a very basic set up.. which will probably not have the need for Co2 after all.

you can use a wet/dry if you dont inject co2, most plants will do fine with out co2, although they may not be super green.

"By dosing with Flourish Excel™ you bypass the involvement of CO2 and introduce the already finished, structurally similar compounds." That is from Seachems website. You can read more about Excel here: http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/FlourishExcel.html

So yes. I was telling the OP that I do supplement "bioavailable organic carbon" but NOT co2 as it is MOST COMMONLY introduced: in a pressurized system or a DIY setup.

lol... i know what Excel is.. i used it for a long time, it is a substitute for Co2. regardless how u may want to word it, it is a Co2 supplement. at the end of the day its doing the same job as Co2.

did u read the whole thread? im not gonna bother explaining it to u. :grinno:

Yeah. Save yourself the effort. :grinno:

Back on track. I did NOT dose co2 - to be specific for the 'got cha' crowd that is referring to pressurized co2 gas. I DID does excel which is NOT co2 but rather a 'bioavailable organic carbon.' I also dosed seachem trace and root tabs for the swords. How is your tank coming?
