I just bought a 125 gallon tank for $100 and I want to know what's the best (affordable) filtration setup I can use? Freshwater natives so I'd like to have 200 gallons or more of filtration power, that sentence makes sense I my head lol.

Is the tank drilled for an overflow? If its drilled you can set up a sump. I love the old 55 gallon tank. It's cheap and simple to modify to a nice sump.

Set it up for a bean animal overflow system and a 55gal sump. I've got mine that way with a laguna 2000 pump and it rocks. Silent as well

Well, not to be technical, but best and affordable are two different attributes, so there is no solution for that unless the cheapest filter is also the best. We wish!
One of the cheapest solutions that is also a real filter is a DIY bucket filter using a power head. Those will work in a tank your size and they are fairly simple, cheap and work. They can be built to any size to use most power heads and can provide both mechanical and biological filtration. In your case, they also allow you to cheaply start a tank and wait to find out if you really want to spend more money to upgrade it. See the link below.
The biggest drawback is that they can be unsightly in a tank and have to be physically removed to be cleaned.
From there you go up in cost and quality.
