Aqueon just released there highest flow HOB filter. I actually have it on my 55 gallon now.
Its called the "Aqueon 55/75, does 400gph". (up to 90 gals.)

- It might not look big but it takes up alot of room in the back. i've had this filter since the day i setup my 55 gallon and its the best $40 bucks i've ever spent cause my water looks like i could drink out of it!

(And i doubt you will find a filter this nice brand new for only $39.99!)

iHonestly - Just noticed your avatar from the GA Aquarium..I go to school in downtown Atlanta and end up at the aquarium maybe once a month+. I LOVE it there!

As far as filtration goes, plan your stock list to match your filter and try as hard as you can to not change your stock or you'll end up upgrading or buying another filter. :)

im thinking im going to research some more on xp3 vs. fluval 405's, and decide which i will run 2 of or 1 of each.. im definitely going to run 2 canisters with as high of a turnover rate as i can acquire. im gonna have to look more into bio media and media period, so i can use it properly and have some pristine water. so, looks like more studying for me. and i thought summer would be freedom from studies lol. and @rbowers 31, my avatar is actually from the okinawa aquarium in japan! but i hope to make a trip down to atlanta to see the GA aquarium sometime soon! i hear many good things!

Remember that the flow rate on the box is not actually the flow rate with the filter full of media.

As far as the XP3 its supposed to do 350 GPH, but with all the media it gets cutdown to about 180 gph. Depending on your stock you probably want more than this.

my stock is 2 oscars, dirty beasts they be. flow rate wise, you think the cutdown will affect this heavily?

Two xp3's or 405's should be alright on your tank with your stocking. When in doubt getting more filtration wouldn't hurt lol. And I know what you mean, oscars are dirty as hell and poop like crazy. I swear I could have build my O a house with all those brick sized poop.

alright! thats good news that i finally found a filtration setup that will work out! thanks! haha oscars are so dirty, but their personality is worth it! i currently have one in a tank with no substrate so i can scoop up the poop manually with a net! lol get to work pleco.. lazy...
