Why are you abusing your filters:confused::screwy:
I don't purposely abuse my filters. Just that accidents do happen and a filter that can withstand the abuse is better fitted for the way I use filter. I just like that Emperor used a more flexible plastic compared to a hard brittle plastic.

Why Eheim 2217 over all other brands and models of Eheim? Is it because of best bang for the buck?

Several of the larger eheims are better, but the classics are tried and true filters. They are very reliable, and very well built. As far as brittle AC110s, unless you are throwing them on the ground, they won't break.

i have 2 aquaclar 110's on a 55 so i would stear you away from the emps and all that bio stuff is hype along with a fluval 405 you would have all the mechanical filtration you need and the aquas will do a better job with the bio load than the emps imo and experience with both models depending on what type of stck and quanity you should have no problems i think the x5 is overkill and for the smae money the hob's and a simpler can is the way to go unless u dont mind sumps lol than hmmmm.......

The AC110's can crack if you pick it up by the side panel to remove it for cleaning; especially if there is water in the filter.

For something like that, IMO, I'd run an fx5, and a eheim pro2 or pro3 with all biomedia. Correct me if I'm wrong please....:)

filtration is easy to spend all kinds of money on and over filter sure lets all get fx5's and eheims big dollar stuff and we will all have ungodly filtration and the most durable what it all comes down too is what ur fish need to be healthy... that includes correct flow rates water current parameters and the biggest fileter of them all wich blows away your fx5 is water changes it is what it is and how much money do you want to spend aq's are good eheim maybe a little better yes... rena has a better pump than a fluval but is it worth it....its all opinions so find out what works for you
