i think i need to upgrade my filtration
any recommendation for my 75gal
right now i have a HOB filter im not sure what kind it is

Run your current filter along with an XP3. BigAls usually has them for 89.99 online.

Dump the current filter and use a single Rena XP3. It is perfect for a 75 gallon.

Correct, but make sure you run both filters in the tank for a few weeks while the new one cycles ;)

Of course it never hurts to run 2 filters anyway, if you have a problem with one at least the 2nd one will keep your fish alive while you fix things.

should i get it locally or online.

Have you got a good local pet shop that you want to support and has decent prices? I so, go buy it off them, it helps keep them in business even if you pay a few $$ more. If you dont - then buy it online.

Cheers

Ian

Check ebay. I like the Fluval FX5, you won't outgrow it.

An FX5 on a 75 gallon tank....mmmmmmmm I hope he stocks some VERY strong swimmers or they will end up plastered against the glass.

Run a Fluval 405 on the 75. far more economical than the FX5.

First what type of fish do you have in your tank and how many. That affects how much filtration your going to need. I love the rena xp3 filters but would not run them alone on a 75g tank. There flow rate is way overstated. My personal opinion is that if you have much bio load at all use a combo of your current HOB a penguin 350 (or emperor 400) and a rena xp3. I run multiple filters on all my tanks and its saved me more then once. Sounds like a lot of filtration but to me its not. Just my two cents.

Im in the same boat your in Nestquick, I was looking at the xp3 and I here nothing but good stuff from people I seen Thatfishplace.com has them for under 100.00 and petsmart has them (xp3) for 175.00:screwy:? So if your trying to save ALOT of money go online.
