It will depend on stock, the Ac110s likely will not have enough biomedia to support a moderately stocked 180g tank.

I saved $200 not have the built in overflows for my 180 and I regret it. My previous 180 was drilled and I had a 55g sump and it was superior in every way.

Bderick67;2789809; said:IMO multiple smaller filters is better then a single large filter. Alot will depend on the stocking of the tank. If you have the room a wet/dry sump would be your best bet. If you don't go sump I would do a pair of AC110s and at least one canister filter. Alot of people like the Fluval FX5, personally I would rather go with a pair of Rena XP3s or Eheim 2217s.
