Dude don't do convicts, unless you want a pond full of convicts. These little monsters will breed like rabbits. Try search eBay for good filter pricings. Saw a fx-5 for 188+24 for shipping.
too late for that:nilly:haha i bought 4 convicts about a year ago because i wanted to experience with breeding fish and all i can say is that was a bad idea. they are ALWASY breeding now. im just glad not much of the babies ever survive.

invest in a nice canister filter or multiple hang on the back power filters.

rena xp line is good
fluval fx5

aquaclear 70/110

surfpalmsncycads was referencing to a do-it-yourself wet dry filter. it sits under the tank and filters it that way. its efficient and cheap but you have to know how to set it up and tinker.
maybe i will try and set up a DIY wet dry because my moms friend has his own and he could probably help me with it.

HOBs really won't help him with his indoor pond. what flat surface will they cling on? rounded pond edge won't allow HOB placement.

good luck , looking forward to a progress report

Sweet, do keep us updated. Would like to see how the wet/dry turns out. What pump you plan on getting?
there is a pump in the internal filter that i have in the 110 right now so idk the exact name and GPH of it. Im hoping that it is the appropriate amount GPH so i dont have to buy a new pump haha
