could some body tell me if silver dollars or tinfoil barbs are notorious fin biters??

i've just filled my new 8 x 2 x 2 with 5 altifrons, 7 aripuna, 6 heckelli, 6 lucasticta,
9 lge silver dollars & 1 tinfiol barb and ive noticed the tail and caudal fins have steadily been cropped..bite sized holes have appeared in the tail also...i was really proud of my geos, as they had great streaming ribbons on all their fins before i moved them....Who Dunnit????? i know they got bitten in the last tank they where in,(hartwigi, synspillum, black belt, festae,)but i hoped this would stop in the new "GEO TANK"

my tinfoils were quite nippy until i sold them, so it could be him.

You see i don't have any problems withy my tinfoil barb so i can't really say !

Oh Geophagus altifrons nice choice of fish i just love them you got any pic's ?

NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE TINFOIL.....I FOUND HIM GUTS-UP THIS MORNING WITH A BLOATED BELLY..... MAYBE HE ATE TOO MANY FINS (MORE LIKE HE JUST ATE TOO MUCH!!! HE WAS A BIT OF A GUTS) BIT OF A SHAME AS HE DID ACT AS A GREAT DITHER FISH AND HE WAS QUITE EXPENSIVE TO BUY...I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT 5 OR 6 BUT THE LFS ONLY HAD THE ONE....

my money's on the silver $s i had a pacu in with a large aro and my aro's pelvic fins seemed a little too short one morning. so that night when i turned off the tank lights i saw the pacu come up under the aro and go straight for the pelvic fins. it got taken out of the tank that night and back to the lfs the next morning. i know pacus are bigger with bigger teeth, but still in the same family.. ???

I'm having the same trouble with my pacu, nipping the fins of my hoplo and oscars. He's about to take a little ride back to the lfs too! A few years back, I had a pair of pacus in with a pair of oscars, and I don't recall the pacus doing any chasing or nipping. Maybe a matter of personality?

i've just got hold of a video called the flooded forrest.... and its got a bit in it on fin biting ...and they look a lot like silver dollars or some relative....i thought silver dollars were vegetarians,,,,i might have to cash them in for for some real dollars!!!
its a shame, cos they look great schooling up from 1 end of the tank to the other
