After talking about getting a pair of JD`s, and JD talk in general... My GF brought home a suprise today.... A 2 inch JD with fin rot :(

Its fins are very torn up, and have a white fuzz around the edge`s... fin rot right ?
Anything i can do, other than put him in a Q tank and add some aquarium salt ?
I can`t get to the LFS before monday

No home remedy is all that effective for fin rot.
Salt at 1+tbsp/5g slightly warmer water, very clean water, all will help. One other suprisingly effective cure is to catch the fish and wipe down the effected areas with hydrogen peroxide on a swab, but your best bet is still to get some meds such as maracyn or maracyn plus (something that works on gram negative bacteria).

The meds you listed are not to be found where i live.... this should work tho right ?
http://www.eshalabs.com/esha2000.htm ( does not say anything specific about gram negative bacteria though )

Would adding some melafix during or after the above threatment be allright ?
If so, I`m gonna order this aswell... sounds like good stuff

I do not know what is in that and have not used it but it is listed as a finrot treatment so I don't see why it would not be good.
I am not a fan of melafix but it won't hurt your fish.
