Is this fin rot or is it just the coloration of its fins. He was like this when I got him. At the base of the fins where they attatch to the body, its yellow and it fades to black until the ends of the fins and it seems to he whitish on the very ends. They don't look tattered like my JDs did when she had fin rot. Any ideas to what this is or is it normal coloration for a Jardini?

I'm pretty sure that it's normal coloration. When he/she gets bigger, you can see the different colors from the base of the tail to the end of the fin better and you will see that it's just the coloration. Got out the aro phase but have kept them many times before. Maybe it's the lighting or that it's young that makes the fish look washed out but the color will come in. Feed high quality foods and do water changes regularly and you and it will be happy. Good luck.
