Can I throw in my 2 cents? Personally I have a 600 gallon tropical tank in my living room... actually its not a tank its a pond. It is so strongly built that a hurricain couldn't take it down! Now a 1500 gallon I would just do the same thing that I did depending on if you want a pond instead of a tank... Here is how I did this..
First and foremost you definately need the support... mine is built on top of two headers that hold up my living room.. Then I drew out what and how I wanted it to look... Secured the floor with plywood, the walls with 2x4s and framed it with plywood as well... then I purchased a pond 45 epdm liner and formed it to the walls of the pond. Where the liner was creased I sealed it with Acrylic chaulking and then single side taped it with roofing tape(which is stronger then liner tape). After letting it dry, I placed a piece of 1/2inch glass from my glass guy which is the front window of this pond that is 5 feet long by 3 feet high... I then chaulked the edges of the glass atleast two inches in on each edge and then braced it to the front... Let this dry for over a week, once that was dry, I took the braces down rechaulked and then taped the glass to the liner... Waited for that to dry for about two days... then added 200 pounds of rock, tons of fake plants, driftwood and then started filling it up.... It has been up and running for over three months with my 24 inch arowana,14inch pleco, 14 inch black arowana, and 4 severums(that i hate)... I have two pond master 1200's running on the bottom, a fluval FX8, and a 1000watt titanium heater...that keeps the water at 78ish... Looks excellent, just need to finish the trim on the outside and Im done... So trust me once its done, itll look rockin!!!!!!!! If I can be of any help let me know... that was just some rambling about building it in home....
