crickets and minnows are the way to go with these guys. instead of building a pond for the minnows though, just throw them in the water bowl that you are going to need to keep the humidity up anyways. Also, be careful not to overheat the snake, they don't like it as warm as most other species so a low wattage bulb in the heat lamp is good. Plant it heavily and avoid handling the snake, they stress easily.
The snake you will get is going to be wild caught almost definitely so keep a close eye on it for parasites and other problems.
