Maybe a Firemouth or Severum? A 55 doesn't leave alot of room to work with...

and not enough for either of those two. i would say either a con or two, a bichir, or a pictus or raphael cat

sean, ive seen plenty of people who have successfully had octofasciatus (jack dempsey), rivulatus sp (green terror), meeki (firemouth) and other various pleco/catfish species in a 55G, it come be easily done with tolerant fish and aslong as maintenance is of good quality and is kept up with then the fish can live happily in a 55.

personally i have 1 55G tank with a dovii in it.

A Bichir? want to be a little more specific? Most bichirs are capable of reaching well over 12".

I think either one of the Cichlid I have mentioned above would do fine in his 55 with the proper tank maintenance. it's obviously not the ideal tank for them, but it could work.

IMO a single JD is good for a 55g. yes they can do fine but for how long or until they reach adult size. there's not a whole lot of room for tank mates when they get big. let alone if you get one with a temper. i couldn't imagine my male rotkeil in a 55g with tankmates.

i have two severums in a 55g, the male 8" and the female about 6", only other tankmates are a 3" banjo cat and a L114 at 3". they are getting cramped in the tank. when they were smaller i had other tankmates but removed them.

a JD is generally more aggressive than severums are gonna be.

as for bichirs a senegal or delhezi could go in a 55g for life

Yeah I Just Dont Want My Fish To Beat Up Eachother And Be Cramped And Not Be Happy.... So I Wanna Make Sure I Pick The Right Fish
