Finally a bichir!

I finally decided today was the day i was getting into the bichirs.

I saw a few little albino senegals at my lfs. They were $15 a piece, and only about 2", but its the only time i've ever seen senegals locally, so i decided to go for it.

Right now the little guy is in my 10g krib tank until he gets a little bigger, then he is off to a 29 gallon with a leopard cten and a butterfly fish. my little predator tank :)
 
Cool. I got mine almost 3 weeks ago, about the same size, maybe a little bigger. They sure are characters.
 
very nice, im keeping my senagal with butterflies and im searching around for some ctenos, ive also got a knife in there so it should do well, good luck on your "african oddball" tank.
 
i actually saw an african knife at the same place aswell. if i had a little bigger tank that woulda came home too.

i was reallly looking for a 2nd krib to have a pair in my tank, but nope, only another male left. so i bought the bichir and i'm happy! just gotta move my 29 upstairs, switch it to sand and clear out some current fish in there.

wat do u guys feed small senegals like this? anything special?
 
believe me, they will fatten up, and quick too!
congrats on getting into polys, you'll have loads of fun!
 
will post pics tommarow....maybe even of his future home being moved......maybe i should wait on my MTS before i put the sand down.

Can't wait to see it, post all of your fish, especially the Ctenopoma!
 
don't have the butterfly or ctenopoma yet, first i gotta set up my 29 upstairs, grow out the little guy a bit, and switch around stockings on other tanks to rid the 29 of the firemouth, yoyos and the algea eaters.

pics are gunna come later as the little guy has made himself a nice little cave under a piece of slate. Came out to eat some shrimp, went back in and now his had is just popping out of it. lol.

you should see this guy eat the shrimp though. He latches on to a big piece and just jerks it like crazy until he rips a mouthfull off.
