Your cichlids will not appreciate marine salt in there (necessary to make BW), they are not BW. Nor is African cichlid lake salts (used for some species of cichlids) appropriate for a BW fish.
 
I reworded my post as you posted, I was incorrect. It is basic aquarium salt at recommended dosages.

I guess it's more a test as to how it goes, and depending on how it goes, he can move if necessary. So, consider me to be 'testing the limits' and I can safely move him if need be.
 
I really hope this in your future plans for him. :D
