dang! you're right, but it's the best or second-best store for monsters in the area. I figured he might try to sell it for 250, but didn't expect 350.



I gotta go see it to see how different it looks from mine.

Considering they are illegal in CA, I would get one of those ASAP because you can't be sure how long they will stock them.
Also don't let the people here bug ya too much about having Gar in CA, it's really not that big of a deal, they are everywhere.
That's a beautiful Tropical Gar by the way

it's this kind of mentality (including posting like this) that allows invasive species to continue to be problematic from the aquarium fish industry AND leads to proposed legislation like this site is trying to fight.

the "it's not that big of a deal, they are everywhere" comments are irresponsible and should not be promoted. believe me, i'm a big fan of gars, but they are illegal in specific areas for a reason, as are other fish species.

in fact, i believe gars are illegal in colorado as well--

They are not "for private aquaria". Polypterus and I had this discussion quite a while ago. We contacted the lady in charge of permits and the regulations manager. Besides that, there is an exemption for fish that live in the subtropical and tropical regions, which would exclude Tropical and Cuban gars for the list, which includes all gar species.

Nice t-gar and I love the patterns on that florida gar! I don't see it as stunted nut more like a short bodied gar.
