So after many years of wanting this sort of animal and always thinking rationally, I finally bought one. His/her name is Turok and he is just under a foot long. Currently lives in a 65 gallon tank with Eheim 2217 filtration. After my Savannah monitor (Steve) past away a few months back, I no longer had anything lizard like. I was choosing this or a large snake(Burm, Dwarf Retic etc). I think this is the best choice for me.

Comments always welcome :)

Wow, very cool! What species is it exactly for the clueless ?:D
And what do you plan for it's future?:)

Thank you.

From what I can tell it's a Cuvier's dwarf caiman(Paleosuchus palpebrosus). The price list said "dwarf caiman" so I knew I needed to look up what it really is afterwards.

He will be house in this tank until he feed regularly and grows to about 16 inches. After that I have a 180 that will house him until 2 feet. I have a large enclosure build into the wall of my basement with a bath tub in it, that will suffice until 3 feet. After that, I need to build it a pond. Luckily, I am a very handy person as wood working is my hobby. I build all my aquarium stands and snake cages out of wood and know this should be a breeze.

oh man a monster in the making!

Welcome to the dark side :D
