Finally decided on fish, will it work?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ah man! Gutted about the aro! Not sure if I should risk it or not now... My ATF is very placid but I wouldn't want to raise an aro just to see it get torn up :/

Surely I would have a year? It could be months before I even get either so wouldn't want to pass up the opportunity to get them...

They would probably be ok for a year. I just wouldn't risk it with the aro and ATF together in a tank that "small"(comparative to their eventual size).

What size do you think your Giraffe catfish will get? I realize that the name has been used for a number of different fish, but which one do you have? Some will grow 3' long and will not work in an 8x4x3.

Ok thanks, might have to rethink the aro, any suggestions for mid to top level fish that work well with ATF?

Any fish that you put with an ATF is at risk, I have heard stories of them being fine in a comm for years, then one day just go nuts and kill something. Maybe you could try a small school of red hook silver dollars, I've seen them with atf's before. Then again you could always use the arowana as an excuse to get another tank 😉

get an irwini, built like tanks!-)

Would discus get stress to badly in this kind of setup? My water perimeters are fine for them but I've been told they are hard to care for?

I've decided to get an endli or ornate bichir when the TT eel is sold, more angels, red hooks or discus to add more movement, and a Leiarius Pictus or marmoratus.

Let me know what you think

I don't think discus would do well with the high water flow that atf's require.
