bro he looks badbass!!! i love the red eyes. Looking good. is the jag still by itself or back in the community.
Yah he is growing ridiculously fast to. Already gained an inch or more. The jag is still alone. I'll reintroduce as soon as I get my 180 up and running!

I honestly was just told is a intermedius. If someone what's to ID I'll take a picture under his jaw. And yup he was about to give a gold out of the shot some lip.
An under jaw shot is all that's needed for these, intermedius have the u shape and are in the lacerdae group, and well mala is common knowledge by now lol. Mines a mala though. You can probably ID it yourself. They're still awesome fish! Malas have a v and it comes together and touches at some point, where as intermedius have U shape. If you look up pictures you'll see. If you'd want someone else to ID it just post a pic and me or a number of other people can help. It's quite easy though lol. Mines is fairly active too, not sure if he has red eyes I'd have to look, I much prefer the tiger striping over the line going through the body laterally.

It honestly looks just like my mala, maybe they came from the same area lol, but try to get a video maybe so we can stop it when his gills are closed, cause when he takes a breath the fold expands and can make us misjudge it. As of now, it's not an intermedius which is supposed to have the "U" shape fold. It is in the malabaricus group with those folds, I can only imagine them coming closer when his gills aren't protruding. Regardless he is a nice specimen!

Easy way to tell is take it out and check the pores. Hard to tell when in the tank cause of the jaw movement. Doesn't look like typical mala folds but will see what it looks out of the tank. If it has 4 pores and the folds don't touch then it's a good chance of being intermedius. Then take a lateral line scale shot and that will confirm it.

Agreed. Better do it while he's not to big lol they're air breathers so it's not as bad on them as others too remember that.
